Our Nursery and Reception class are all part of St Mark's Early Years Foundation Stage.
Learning in our Early Years concentrates on seven areas split into prime and specific areas of learning.
The prime areas of learning are:
- communication and language
- physical development
- personal, social and emotional development
The specific areas of learning are:
- literacy
- mathematics
- understanding the world
- expressive arts and design
Much of the learning in the Early Years Foundation Stage is carried out through playing and exploring, and being active and creative, both indoors and outside. There is a mix of adult-led, child-led and child-initiated activity. As children go through into Reception class, the balance will gradually shift towards more activities led by adults.
Children love playing at our activity tables where they can engage in fun, imaginative, creative and stimulating play. They can be used for both solo and group play.
