Nursery
The Nursery teacher is Mrs Gallagher, supported by Mrs Amarteifio and Mrs Ashby. We are a friendly and welcoming class where we aim to ensure that every child feels happy, safe and secure.
In Nursery, we follow the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum with a strong emphasis on the Prime areas of learning; Personal, Social and Emotional Development, Communication and Language and Physical Development.
These areas are fundamental and work together to support development in the Specific areas of Literacy, Mathematics, Understanding the World and Expressive Arts and Design.
In Nursery the children enjoy playing and exploring indoors and outdoors. Fun and purposeful activities are planned responding to the children’s interests and stages of development. We love books and stories, and literacy is promoted through a range of resources which are linked to topics based on children's interests. Vocabulary from stories is extended through role play and small world play.
Play is promoted as it underpins all areas of the curriculum and is how young children learn. Children also have the opportunity to work and play with an adult regularly at a variety of activities. We encourage children to develop their independence and social skills by learning how to keep safe, work cooperatively with their peers, take turns, tidy up and put on their coats.
Occasionally, we hold special events, such as farm visits, theatre workshops or festival celebrations. These days provide enjoyable experiences and support our children's learning in a variety of ways.
